Here's what's been going on at the Quitman Public Library:
On Monday Miss Joanne Price from the County Extension Service presented a talk on the food pyramid and healthy eating habits to a large group of children. She also presented a talk today (Thursday) to adults on smart shopping at the grocery store. A video was shown about marketing tricks stores use to make us linger and spend more money. Very eye opening!
On Tuesday, Paula Walters and Myrtle the Turtle from MDOT came and talked about the "I'm not your Mama!" anti-litter campaign.
Upcoming events at QPL include a Family Reading Day and Scavenger Hunt on May 23rd. Also Miss Smith will present a free craft workshop for children of all ages on May 30th.
Remember that the last day to sign up for the Summer Reading Program at QPL is May 31st!! SRP will run from June 11-15th. Details of programming during that week will be posted later when they are finalized.

Welcome to our new blog!

Well, it's National Library Week, and what better time to start a library blog than now? Our intention here is to let people know what's new, different, or just happening in our library system. Occasionally we may wax philosophical, but we'll try to keep that to a minimum. Right now we're getting a web designer to completely redo our current website, and will include a link to our blog when that little project is done. We are also in the middle of several special projects that we'll talk about as time goes by (Play it, Sam!). In the meantime, please feel free to comment, etc., on our little endeavor, and ya'll come back now, hear?
